Ring in the New Year With the Kids at First Night 2018

Families from across the Greater Boston area are penciling First Night on Boston Common into their holiday calendars. This all-day celebration of arts and culture is a kid-friendly alternative to the usual revelry of other New Year’s Eve parties.

You can start right after breakfast, if you like, by packing the kids in the car and making your way to the Back Bay. There you’ll see the ice sculptors carving enormous pieces of ice into works of art, and starting shortly after noon you can enjoy live music at Copley Square, or take in a puppet show. A variety of kid-friendly performances from jugglers, acrobats, story tellers and more continue throughout the afternoon, capped off by a fireworks display over the Frog Pond at 7 p.m.
